Mullier fights back!
Event 10 of the Fulfords Cycles Time Trial League took place in windy
conditions on the sixteen mile rolling course of the A168 from Arkendale
Lane end to Green Hammerton then Aldborough and a return up the A168.
Yet again Ian Fairweather of Yorkshire Road Club showed that he is
peerless in this class, finishing an amazing 3:08 ahead of Nova’s Duncan
Mullier in second place in a time of 34:43 and closes in on a perfect
points total in this best of nine series, having scored seven wins out
of seven starts. Mullier’s form improved after a poor run of results to
extend his lead in the not so clear cut veterans’ title, beating
team-mate Simon Ketteringham by a mere three seconds and second placed
veteran, Malcolm Yates, by eight seconds. In form and current vet
champion, Simon Hudson, was left cursing his luck after puncturing in
the last two miles, but still managed to ride on the rim to finish just
thirty seconds behind Mullier, in fifth and thirty seconds ahead of
Chris Mawer in sixth. The Ladies’ Championship is as clear cut as the
overall title, with Joanne Ketteringham needing one more win for the
perfect nine after taking another Ladies’ course record in a time of
42:45, 2:22 ahead of second placed Corinne Mitchell. Fourteen year old
school boy Edwyn Oliver-Evans continues to impress by taking yet another
School Boy record with a time of 40:17. Full league results on
nova.mullier.me. The previous week Edwyn Oliver-Evans took his talents
to the Yorkshire heats of the National School Boys’ Championships on a
ten mile circuit on the old A1 at Ferrbybridge. Oliver finished second
in a time of 24:23, twenty five seconds behind winner Jake Womersley,
earning a place in the final in September.
