4 Nova riders in top 10 in White Rose Classic!

Last Sunday 8th June, nearly 1000 cyclists took part in the annual White Rose Classic timed sportive event, comprising a choice of 3 very challenging routes and distances starting from Otley heading North, along quiet country lanes, taking in numerous demanding climbs including Fleet Moss, the Coal Road to Dent station, Stainforth to Malham and the sting in the tail, Beamsley to Langbar just above Ilkley. Harrogate Nova CC was again very well represented with 12 riders involved in the 115 mile route, resulting in an incredible 4 riders finishing in the top 10 fastest times. Greg Ketteringham again proving his amazing fitness and endurance levels narrowly missed out by 2 minutes to finish 2nd in 6hrs 8 mins, hotly followed by last year’s fastest rider Paul Caswell in 6.10, 6th was ever improving Mike Wilberforce in 6.28 and with probably his best ever ride, was Simon Ketteringham in 9th place with 6.34. Paul Lehan was the next Nova rider to finish in 31st place with 6.56, then Duncan Mullier and Dave Morris finishing together in 7.11. Veteran Sam Cook finished in a fantastic time of 7.40, followed by Tony Bradley in 7.43, Eamon Hannaway in 8.07 & Lee Matinson with 8.13. Richard Timms recovering from illness finished in 8.52. In the 85 mile route Nova rider Mike Hudson rode brilliantly to record the fastest time of 4.54 and Carmel Ramwell also recovering from illness, finished the 50 mile route in a great time of 3.26. The event was superbly organised by British Cycling Yorkshire with excellent signage, great feed stops and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
